Children's Fund to Distribute 1,400 Care Bags to At-Risk Children
SAN BERNARDINO, CA - On Thursday June 25th, Children's
Fund - a nonprofit organization serving at-risk children in the County-
is distributing 1,400 'My Stuff Bags' to case managers from all four
regions of San Bernardino County's Department of Children's Services.
The Department of Children's Services serves to protect at-risk
children, preserving and strengthening their families, and developing
alternative family settings.
"Each year thousands of San Bernardino County's children are rescued
from dangerous homes and family situations. Traumatized by the events
leading to their rescue, these children often arrive at a safe haven
without anything to call their own: no clothes or comforting toy. Each
'My Stuff Bag' is packed with new donated items (handmade blanket,
toys, toiletries, stuffed animal, and clothing) and is age/gender
appropriate for children or teens," according to Rebecca L. Stafford,
Executive Director of Children's Fund.
The My Stuff Bags Foundation supports nonprofit organizations like
Children's Fund, by providing duffel bags filled with new belongings
for children who enter crisis shelters or foster care with no personal
belongings.
On the morning of June 25th children from Victorville will help the case managers load the bags at the at the Children's Fund Warehouse located at 1010 S. Arrowhead Avenue in San Bernardino. The case managers will then distribute the bags to children throughout the county.
"We want to demonstrate to each child the love and concern Children's
Fund and our supporters have for them," concluded Stafford.
